The Calendar Pin-Up Experience

For weeks I’ve been posting and twittering about the 2010 NYC Sex Blogger Calendar… and how I’m one of this year’s pin-ups. After helping to sell out all of the days for the calendar by following Miss Calico’s footsteps with my own incentive contest,, and helping the calendar raise money towards this year’s charitable organization of choice Sex Work Awareness, the big day finally arrived- today, I had my shoot with Barbara Nitke and Debauched Diva. OMG, it was AMAZING!

After planning and organizing with Diva and Barbara for weeks, we finally descended on Fontana’s in China Town to do our shoot. i even brought Dov, my favorite rope god, along! :) We made final decisions on outfits and ideas, then Diva and I dressed and got ready while Dov and Barbara set up the lighting and got the production ready. Then, we just started shooting shot after shot… it felt like I was on the set of America’s Next Top Model or something! How incredible! Barbara coached us with position instruction and cooed “good… good… just like that” as I changed positions and followed her cues. It was SO MUCH FUN!

After starting the day and proclaiming, “OMG, I’m having a FAT day!” and fussing over how my gender wasn’t femme AT ALL (my girlfriend said she felt like she was watching Aiden put makeup on to go in drag) , I ended the day feeling confident and ignited. Barbara is an amazing photographer and helped me see an amazing side of myself that I hadn’t seen before. She captured so many phenomenal images of me- it’s going to be soooooo hard to choose which one for the calendar! So many shots, positions, and scenes… I can’t wait to share some outtakes with you all when Barbara shares her top 30 with us!

  1. I had an awesome time too! The best part was the looks on customers faces as they walked in and say you. Priceless.

    It is going to be so hard to pick one photo out of all of them. You were absolutely gorgeous in them.

  2. You looked hot in those stockings and bitchin’ heels, lady! (And the view from the floor wasn’t bad either! LOL) I still want to see that apron… perhaps we can get Dov to shoot us with that bowl of milk! ;)

  3. that sounds so amazing! i have to admit a few ANTM fantasies myself…mainly working with a professional photographer and lighting. ah well, i guess for now just amateur snaps.

    can’t wait to see the calendar and your shot especially. who knows, maybe it will be my birthday month…i bought my day!

  6. @LoLoLola – It was certainly a dream-come-true for me as well! I’ll never be on ANTM, but damn if I didn’t feel like a model yesterday! It was AWESOME!

    I would encourage you to seek out photographers and experience it for yourself… there are plenty of amateur and semi-pros that will gladly offer their time and prints in exchange for rights to use your image.
