After seeing the 2009 NYC Sex Blogger Calendar and the amazing good it did by sponsoring the ‘Speak Up’ workshop by Sex Work Awareness’, I just knew that I wanted to be involved! As you would imagine, I was absolutely ecstatic when and said I could be in this year’s calendar!

Getting to shoot with the lovely Diva and amazing Barbara Nitke for the 2010 NYC Sex Blogger Calendar was like a dream- a fairy-tale come true.  And yet, the fairytale wasn’t over. While helping set up for the calendar launch party, Diva asked me if I’d seen the calendar yet. When I replied ‘no’, she handed me a calendar … and much to my surprise, I saw my face on the cover! For a while, I just stared in amazement (after letting out a loud squeal, of course)- I couldn’t believe my eyes!

When I first became active in the Alt and BDSM scenes, I started as a kitty girl; however, over the last 13 years, role play has become only one of the many aspects of who I am in the scene. With each passing year, my interests, passions, and limits have expanded and evolved. Who I am today is very different from who I was when I first started this journey at the age of 18. The young girl of yesteryear would never have believed I’d become the fearless and adventurous pervert and gender transgressor I am today! Capturing that shot of me on the floor bound in rope was indeed a vision of freedom. Like my dear friend, , I find there is amazing strength in submission and freedom in bondage. I have found there is incredible abandon to be found in both the contradictions and ambiguities of life. As I’ve strayed away from the norms and given myself permission to be me, in all facets, I’ve found the wings to fly.

I can’t begin to tell you what an amazing honor it is to be featured with so many amazing bloggers and to have been photographed by someone who exemplifies what I believe in. Not only has Barbara Nitke made a career of photographing sexuality and BDSM, but she and the NCSF (National Coalition for Sexual Freedom) challenged the constitutionality of the Communications Decency Act, a federal statute prohibiting the publication of obscenity on the Internet in 2001. In our own ways, both Barbara Nitke and I are dedicated to opening the eyes of the world to the beauty of all forms of love, sex and passion. Together we share a vision of sexual freedom- I’m so very proud to have collaborated with her in sharing my story.

Here is a ‘Behind the Scenes’ look at my shoot with Barbara Nitke, Dov, and Diva for the 2010 NYC Sex Blogger Calendar.

After planning and organizing with Diva and Barbara for weeks, we finally descended on Fontana’s in China Town to do our shoot. i even brought Dov, my favorite rope god, along! :) We made final decisions on outfits and ideas, then Diva and I dressed and got ready while Dov and Barbara set up the lighting and got the production ready. Then, we just started shooting shot after shot… it felt like I was on the set of America’s Next Top Model or something! How incredible! Barbara coached us with position instruction and cooed “good… good… just like that” as I changed positions and followed her cues. It was SO MUCH FUN!

After starting the day and proclaiming, “OMG, I’m having a FAT day!” and fussing over how my gender wasn’t femme AT ALL (my girlfriend said she felt like she was watching Aiden put makeup on to go in drag) , I ended the day feeling confident and ignited. Barbara is an amazing photographer and helped me see an amazing side of myself that I hadn’t seen before. She captured so many phenomenal images of me- it’s going to be soooooo hard to choose which one for the calendar! So many shots, positions, and scenes… I can’t wait to share some outtakes with you all when Barbara shares her top 30 with us!
